Crystal D'Esprit


I began my musical journey at the tender age of seven, classically trained on the flute and joining county and national orchestras as a child. This early immersion in music laid the foundation for a diverse and accomplished career in music composition, songwriting, and sound design.

​

With extensive experience spanning orchestral, electronic music production, jazz, pop, and rock, I explore numerous genres creating versatility. This enables me to be adaptable which shines through in my work on film scores and game soundtracks, where the narrative drives the choice of genre, resulting in a unique and cohesive sonic experience.

I have contributed to various notable projects, including composing for "Abigail's Signature" and trailers as well as games. 

​

In 2023, I was honoured with the Emerging Composer of the Year finalist award at the Apulia Soundtrack Awards. Additionally, winning the "Foley the World" competition, bringing a 1920s silent movie to life with innovative sound design. These accolades highlight the recognition for exceptional talent and creativity in these fields.

​

Key highlights of my career include composing my first symphony, having my first produced song recognised by Universal Digital in 2006, and learning from renowned composers such as Simon Franglen of the Avatar series and Cyril Morin in Italy in 2023 in Masterclasses.

​

Academically, I hold a foundation degree in Creative Audio and a Bachelor's degree in Sound for Games and Apps, complemented by early ABRSM exams in flute performance and theory. My education has equipped me with the technical expertise and creative insight necessary for this craft.

​

Operating from a well-equipped Mac-based studio, I utilise various softwares including Logic Pro X, enabling me to record and use Foley and sound design techniques, to create unique textures and sounds. I'm also proficient in implementing these elements in game engines like Unity and Unreal, using middleware such as FMOD and Wwise as well as using PureData and Max/MSP.

I can command through notation a full symphony orchestra as well as use sound libraries to be able to adapt to different budgets without compromising on quality and craftsmanship. 

​
